This is actually more of a Musicbrainz issue insofar as if you have a recording of it and proof that it was a real song, you should be able to add it to their database and have it cataloged properly in Headphones.
I see your point. However, if MusicBrainz disappears tomorrow, my local software shouldn't be useless. Arbitrary albums could always by a useful feature
I have a number of songs I've picked up that aren't real releases, so they never make it onto MusicBrainz and, as such, I don't get to have them nicely in my library. I don't see any current mechanism available for dealing with this (I'm open to suggestions!).
Maybe an example helps.
Artist = Hedley. Before they were "famous" or even released anything, they did a song called simply "A" song. You can find it on Youtube and some sparse mentions elsewhere. I got it by recording it while I was at a park and they did an impromptu performance. So no kidding, this isn't going to be on MusicBrainz. But I'd still like to organize it under Hedley in my library.
