Learn more about using open source GIS software!

On January 16 & 17, 2016, the Acadia University Department of Earth & Environmental Science will offer a two-day short course on Geographic Information Systems (GIS) designed to introduce basic concepts in GIS and teach the skills needed to apply GIS to projects in Geology, Environmental Science, Biology, and more! The course is based on the free, open-source program QGIS, so participants will leave the course with competencies in GIS in addition to a fully functioning software package capable of many features offered by more expensive applications such as ArcGIS. The course will cost $30 and requires participants to bring their own laptops running Mac, Windows, or Linux. Space is limited to 40 participants, so register early! To register, contact the Acadia Earth & Environmental Science administrative assistant Lynn Graves (lynn.graves@acadiau.ca).
