Disabling Steam Input and checking your input bindings should help - it may just be a weird axis inversion.

In v1.12, with Steam Input per-game setting: Forced Off produces an abort(). (Below.) I'm using a BlueTooth connected PS4 controller. With Forced On, most controls seem to work fine, except keyboard Up-arrow, D-pad Up and Left Joystick Up to go through doors doesn't. The normal "dream view" of what's on the other side of the door doesn't appear when I stand in the doorway. (See screen shot.) Turning the PS4 controller off, the keyboard Up-arrow still doesn't work. Have some more tips for input debugging?

If Up works in menus and singlethreaded mode doesn't fix it, it's most likely a multiplat issue with the level itself. For that room it may just have to do with the water level but I don't think I've seen lockout in this section before so that's a guess.
