Yup, I've been watching the SVG train-wreck of Chrome 34 approach.  I see that 
it is now out of beta.  Sigh.

The bug in question is this one:
https://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=349701
It has been fixed in Chrome 35, but was not back-ported.

Code.org (who are more severely affected) have kindly provided a work-around.  
I'll try patching it in.
