Any plus ones for this? I've noticed that most attendees are employed or over employed. Maybe we're all experts at getting jobs?
@w1zeman1p this is an interesting idea and I like how you suggested it for #77 as well. I can be available to help in any way for this.
I also think this might an interesting one to involve UNR with. I think this would be a good proposal to bring up at the next meeting (Oct 24), as not everyone that attends check up on the github page.
I've been to a "Hire ruby on rails developers" meetup in SF that was purely about introducing developers to companies/hiring managers. I think it would be cool and beneficial to the community to talk about the keys to getting a job as a developer.
I'm generally opposed to pushy cold email recruiters and that whole process, but Dave has been great and a faithful sponsor. One possible format could involve Dave. It could be a short talk in the beginning about the recruiter side of things and then someone else could give the rest of the talk hitting on the different approaches for getting a job. (I volunteer to talk for this one also). Or Dave could really do the whole thing with the understanding that he's not pitching people on his services, but rather just educating on the process.
Things people might not know about:
Could parlay into an interview prep workshop where we talk about what companies are looking for when you're asked whiteboard questions.
