Thanks for the ideas. We're mostly on the same page.
manually: not sure I understand? Is this related to #3?
Not really.
I just want to use Compliment to collect things that I might want to Flattr in a long list, but not actually flattr them. I would then look at the list near the end of the month and press some buttons.
Much easier than manually going to all the web sites and finding their Flattr buttons (which is what I do now), but still leaving me in control.
This may not be a problem for Compliment's main intended target (software), because I would probably want to flattr all of them, but it totally stops me from using these automated Twitter et al scrapers. I could replace those with my own scripts + Compliment, but only if I can still filter things somewhere.
Ah, I see your usage scenario.
I'll think about it post-1.0 as I better understand the dynamics of how I and other folks use the app. Right now I'm rather fast and loose with my Flattrs. I may reconsider that position as the field grows.
Right now, every app that asks for a Compliment, gets one.
It would be great to manage this in Compliment.
For every app (i.e. URL) , you could set one of the following:
I guess the first time a new app shows up, it should default to either "automatically flattr" or "manually flattr" (set by Preference)
This would better suit my use-case, which is have all these automated tools collect things I might want to flattr, but give me a chance to "sign off" on it, on bulk, near the end of the month.
