Z problem from start printing. #121

i run de last firmware 0.83 Ramps 1.4 Reprap Prusa when the printer start to hit endstop mini. everytinh works grate but whene Z gos to start position so the extruder can heat up. the right motor just sound and dosent move but the left one gos right.? the motors are connected to same wire to the ramps.

its work perfect in sprint firmware. but i cant use sprint becurse the Extruder motor got to warm and after 20 minutes it stops.

If they are wired to the same stepper driver and one motor goes, it must be a hardware problem. Perhaps a loose contact or not enough current for both motors.

Motor temperature depends on the current you set with your stepper driver. So if you do not change the current it will get as hot as with Sprinter!

I use this drivers: http://img.dxcdn.com/productimages/sku_186465_3.jpg so it's on the little screw on the driver i need to change?

Hi,

I hope you have also added the heatsing to the driver. If not it will get too hot. Even with heatsink they get hot but keep at least working.

If too hot, drivers will shut down for a few seconds to cool. This will needlessly to say wreck havoc with positioning. Den 14. juni 2013 14:14 skrev "repetier" notifications@github.com følgende:

Yes i have heatsink on them. but thanks for the information. can somone help me why i cant use Repetier and merlin firmware, why i got the Z-axis problem.

If a motor sounds but does not move it is either going the wrong way, or what is more likely, it is trying to move too fast and missing steps. Use manual control and jog all axis to check for burned motors too. I always set my motor current with a multimeter to make sure I don't set it too high. Check especially the max z feedrate. It is in mm/s and above 2-3 mm/s some users already get stalls depending on how current is set and how smooth the leadscrews work.
