[test] Fix staged and unstaged string matching in test #40

Fix #37

Now the only problem is that since we closed the other PRs we haven't closed any of their previous issues (#33 and #37)

I'm not sure how you mean that this is a problem. Neither #33 nor #37 have been fixed (this PR fixes specifically #37), so it's entirely correct that the issues are not closed.
