require('lx') really is my favourite... And even though it doesn't exist in the browser and is really not part of the javascript language, browserify brings it to the browser :P E é uma deixa para uma muito boa e muito simples talk "Organizing your front-end code with a node-style module system".

Inglês ou Português ? Eu comecei em Inglês porque na CrowdProcess têm a mania de que um dia hade chegar lá um gajo que não fala português e não vai perceber nada do que ficou para trás, e devia poder perceber... é verdade... O que acham ?

Posso dar-vos a minha experiência enquanto organizador do phplx.

1. Nome curto e de fácil de memória (twitter só permite 150 chars)
2. Nós temos talks em português e inglês mas toda a comunicação é em Inglês, apesar de haver muita gente contra mas isto vai dos objetivos do grupo
3. A melhor ferramenta de grupo tem sido o Facebook Groups, o meetup.com tem-se revelado pouco útil
4. Relativamente às opções do nome o require('lx') é interessante mas tem bastante caracteres, o nome que sugeria seria mesmo jslx ou talvez o lxjs mas ambos os nomes devem de pedir autorização à organização do lxjs.org
5. RSVP usamos eventbrite, sem dúvida a melhor ferramenta para o serviço, API, app para check-in, invitation usando mailchimp, entre outras features

No que puder ajudar para levar o meetup para a frente podem contar comigo, conforme já o disse ao @joaojeronimo

Obrigado Daniel! lxjs ou jslx tem esse problema, lxjs está taken e jslx colide com lxjs.

Grupo no facebook... sem dúvida para considerar... Mas nessa altura temos mesmo que já ter assentado o nome porque nomes de organizações mudam-se, nomes de grupos no meetup.com mudam-se, mas nomes dos grupos do facebook não se mudam.

require('lx') pode ter mais letras, mas lido tem o mesmo número de sílabas que phplx, que é muito pouco. lx js pt é muito grande em sílabas... A malta do twitter hade ajeitar-se, mas é importante que seja fácil ficar na memória... Obrigado Serafim!

I totally agree with require('lx'), but i would lose the single quotes... Require is something that every js developer should know about so will easily be associated. in terms of readability, i find it much easier than the acronyms lxjs or jslx or whatever; in terns of twitter handle... come on!, it's 13 chars, 11 if you take out the singlequotes... so, my vote goes to : require(lx)

The only reason we use single quotes and not double quotes is because of the very old Felix's Node.js Style Guide: "Use single quotes, unless you are writing JSON."

Require may have nothing to do with the ecmascript spec, it's completely part of the ecmascript implementations and people may say it has nothing to do with javascript, but we have requires in most implementations except the browser, and you can even bring it there with browserify or component.io. It's something a javascript developer deals with every day.

My opinion is that require('lx') and require-lx are catchy names.

I also favor that communication should be in English due to being the international language as well as lowering the barriers for foreigners.

If there are strong opinions otherwise, create an issue to discuss them.

If want to be a Portuguese group and have people outside Lisbon to step in, I would definitely go for pt instead of lx.

IMHO I think this discussion should happen in an organization meeting with all of those that are interested and should clarify things like these:

• Goals of the groups
• Structure of the meetups
• Name, social networks, etc
• Periodicity of the meetups

@dresende we don't have the plans or the reach to be a portuguese group.. If you or someone else can and would like to create the require('pt'), I cannot speak for the whole group but I'm completely in favor of being part of it :)

@danielcsgomes we have had two small meetings to discuss that but we found out that we were taking too much time to land some solid decisions, and I failed to create this group before, so we decided to really kick off with some talks before and gather more people interested in JS, and then find out what it should become. Early optimization is the root of all evil ;)
