Docker Meetup/Drinkup #20

Let's have a Docker meetup, it's one of the sexiest things in the moment, we have Pedro Dias who is a badass Docker user and the Docker team is supporting meetups (probably food and drinks) http://www.docker.io/community/ , we would be the third group to make it happen in Europe.

My suggestion is this, instead of the Hackathon this September, let's do a Docker Hack Meetup/Training/Workshop/Session, like Nodebots day but you spend evening+night hacking/learning Docker and drinking beer.

What do you say @require-lx/members ?

One extra idea is that probably we can get someone from Docker team on Hangout to give a Docker internals talk :)

@apocas tens de fazer também uns screencasts de docker.io para o bitcast, o @pgte já lá tem os nodetuts :) https://www.bitcast.io/b/node-tuts-professional

Ui... screencasts são muito demanding a nível de tempo, é que não são só os contéudos ou a gravação, depois vem a edição do vídeo, som e tudo o que vem com este média... Neste momento não há disponibilidade :(

I could do an introduction about packer (to build ubuntu box with docker)

I just did a repo for packer templates (Gentoo is still not working, but I'm on it) : packer-warehouse if you are interested

Sooo.... Who's free on next saturday ? We could schedule a Google Hangout on friday night to talk about ideas for the hackathon, then gather on saturday say from 10am to maybe 10pm ? I can get Startup Lisboa as a venue, it has air conditioning which is cool if we're spending all day there...

If we get ~10 RJ45 cables from you guys, and a wired switch, that would be much better than the wireless internet...

As I told you yesterday, I'll have available week-ends from the 5th October.. But if you want before, no problems ;) Or during the week could be an option for me also. Fill this doodle!

For it to be at weekdays, it had to be next week :)

Weekends are OK except the 29 Sept because I'm giving the Docker workshop at LXJS. 28 could be fun, Docker weekend spree but Pierre isn't available.

And what about next week? (9,11,12 or 13 Sept) :)

Anybody is in for a little DrinkUp to define objectives of this week-end? I'm free Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

@pierre why not come to Friday Wine Down at Webnographer.

We also may have some spare servers. For people to practice/demo on, main deciding factor is can we scrub them in time..

So guys what's the plan for the hackathon tomorrow ?

I also have a new idea for it, we could make a dependency graph for everything in npm, that would be pretty cool to visualize for instance things that depend on things that don't pass tests with nodechecker, and then maybe some day build a build service for a crazy idea I'm having for NPM... We should talk today about what to do tomorrow right ? I'm guessing @apocas can join us via skype or google hangout ?
