We need to think hard about whether we need this chapter at all.
I wonder whether we can have another, entirely different chapter, perhaps earlier in the book, introducing statistics for distributions, including central tendency (mean, median), and spread (standard deviation, interquartile range). We could also introduce functions there, on the lines of : https://lisds.github.io/textbook/mean-slopes/standard_scores.html#the-standard-deviation .
Or we could just delete this chapter, and introduce standard deviation later, for example in the testing_measured
chapter.
Sorry - I mean - introduce standard deviation along with standard scores and correlation, which might go around the testing_measured
chapter.
See https://github.com/resampling-stats/resampling-with/pull/129 - it was quick to go through, so defer the decision while we do the other chapters.
This done with PR above, and we now cover standard deviation in the standard_scores
page, so we can close this.
