micro-sites for resbaz #4

Open DamienIrving opened 9 years ago

While the wiki is great for internal planning, we need a public facing website for ResBaz 2016. That site can then link to a mirco-site for each of the events happening around the world. In this issue I'm hoping to discuss what the main site and micro-sites should contain. To be the ball rolling, here are my initial thoughts:

Main site

@DFFlanders Any thoughts on what should be included on the main ResBaz website and also the template for the micro-sites?

DamienIrving commented 9 years ago

@BillMills Would you (and your colleagues at MSL) be willing to take the lead on spinning up a website and microsite template? For the main site I think we had discussed using a similar format to the global sprint site, while for the micro-site template we could follow a similar approach to Software Carpentry (i.e. sites would use that GitHub copy functionality - as opposed to clone or fork - to get a copy of the template)

I think the way to go here will be to find an appropriate (set of?) jekyll template based on the results of this discussion. I'm happy to go hunting for one once we're sure of what we want.

@BillMills I was hoping you might volunteer to search for a template - I know nothing about jekyll / web programming! Doesn't look like we're going to get any other input on this thread at the moment, so you can probably go ahead and start hunting (did I provide sufficient detail in my initial post to this thread?).

Sure, no problem - I've got some bandwidth for this coming up, so we'll see what's good.
