@tjdett - Sorry to ask, but any idea why https://2017.resbaz.com/ is down?

tjdett commented 7 years ago

@DamienIrving Apparently because the domain registration expiry date was 2017-11-04 01:27:48 (UTC). When the domain expired, the domain server details switched from CloudFlare back to the normal parking DNS servers, and all the records disappeared.

Obviously I shouldn't be the technical contact anymore, but I also don't have the domain registrar login details anymore, so somebody at UniMelb ResPlat would be your best bet to resolve the situation.

Thanks, @tjdett.

I don't think we need to persist with https://2017.resbaz.com anymore - I think we can just use the default https://resbaz.github.io/resbaz2017/. I'll get in touch with ResPlat and hopefully someone can make that happen.

tjdett commented 7 years ago

@damienirving Remove the CNAME file in the repo to do that.

DamienIrving commented 7 years ago

@tjdett Thanks!

Wow, the website has not aged well... https://resbaz.github.io/resbaz2017/

tjdett commented 7 years ago

@DamienIrving lots of links and asset locations appear to assume the site is at /, not /resbaz2017/, so that will all need to be cleaned up manually.

DamienIrving commented 7 years ago

@tjdett That makes sense. Is there a keyword I can search that would help locate all those links and asset locations? (besides https://2017.resbaz.com/, which appears in most of the pages for each ResBaz site)

tjdett commented 7 years ago

@DamienIrving You're looking for absolute links, so occurrences of "/ or '/ are good indicators. For the most part you can try simply removing the /, though that will likely not work in all cases. The "Network" tab in Chrome (or Firefox?) is your friend here.

You'll likely want to investigate Jekyll's site.baseurl behaviour as part of this too.
