Just a general thought: we should probably find terminology that differentiates between ResBaz organization Steering Committee / Leadership and ResBaz festival Steering Committee / Leadership, if everybody agrees that these are not necessarily the same.

Agreed that these are not the same.....what about:
Board = ResBaz leadership who oversee ResBaz the organization Task force = committees for ResBaz events
The conference task force might still then want another, different group for planning which can continue to be called steering committee? or maybe more accurately planning committee?
Another option would to make everything a committee; some would be standing and some could be ad hoc. Standing committees could be:
Executive committee: ResBaz leadership (was the Board) Events committee: Coffee & Code, Hacky Hour stuff Conference committee: the committee for the big event that tries to kill us each year
Ad hoc committee might be something that the Executive committee drafts a charge (including a timeline) for, like a Governance Policy committee.
Thanks @jcoliver I think those sound more inclusive.
I'm going to update this draft with Jeff's suggested language on Tuesday next week (30-05-23) unless I hear other thoughts.

@val-pf & @hidyverse do we need to change all mentions of 'steering committee' to 'executive committee'?
If we're waiting to figure out a few of the [TODO: ...]
loose ends, would we be okay with merging this PR now (special thanks to @hidyverse for giving us a great starting point!), and then starting targeted conversations for each separate concern as their own PRs? (That could make some division of labor easier at this point, i.e. each of the drafting task force members could take / be assigned a different issue / section)
Hi!
I started this draft branch if any of these items are useful we can merge
