1) This is probably a duplicate of https://github.com/rescatux/rescatux/issues/83 .
2) Can you please provide passwd package versions and exact distribution version for reference?
3) It would be also nice to have the pastebin (Using the 'Share log' option) for 'chpasswd log txt' after you failing to setup the password. Please use a non valuable password because it will go public.
4) I think I also had the reverse problem when using ( jessie - 1) chpasswd and trying to change password on jessie systems.
5) I might try to code an alternate way of changing the password but based on 0.41b1 code. I might give it to you to test it.
Thanks for the quick response...

Do you still have the same problem on Rescatux 0.71-beta7? Can you provide us the logs in that case?
Thank you very much for your feedback.

Using Rescatux 0.40b11 on three separate systems (Lubuntu or LXLE), all old BIOS (non-UEFI). Tried 32-bit and 64-bit versions, and in all cases changing Linux password fails "Password not changed - something went wrong". Rescatux 0.30.2 seems to work as expected.
