The Open Research devroom addresses FLOSS developers in a broad community concerned with research production and curation: scientists, engineers, journalists, archivists, curators, artists and activists. The tools and technologies targeted are typically creating, handling or sharing knowledge artifacts that go beyond traditional academic outputs to data, collections, web contents, methods, algorithms, artworks and more. This devroom provides a place and time to discuss the issues related to the creation and usage of open research technologies. The ambition is to foster multidisciplinary discussions between designers, developers and users, bridging multiple knowledge-based communities together, and with the broader FLOSS community.
The FOSDEM Open Research room has been organising since 2015, started by Mathieu Jacomy and Paul Girard. [Maybe add more context and history here?]
