GRIM: Sound Effects Volume Disabled in Options Menu #412

Closed Grimfan33 closed 11 years ago

Grimfan33 commented 12 years ago

Build: Oct 31 2011 23:30:18

The Sound Effects Volume Bar in the options menu seems to be put all the way down to off when starting Grim Fandango or it occasionally gets turned off, particularly after a cutscene....so that sounds like elevator doors, background noises, etc. are no longer heard.

The Sound Effects volume can be reenabled again from the options meny, but reaching certain cutscenes or restarting residual will disable them again.

I'm using Windows XP Professional Edition.

Which cutscenes cause this?

Grimfan33 commented 12 years ago

to giucam: I haven't kept a definite track of which particular cut-scenes cause it (I'll start doing that from now on), I just know it happens when starting the program and loading a save and that it seemed to happen after cut-scenes.

I'm pretty sure the first time I noticed sounds missing (like elevator sounds, clown balloon not popping, etc.) was after the cut-scene where Manny returns from the poisoning with Bruno and is using the packing foam on him and Don comes in and tells Manny he better get a sale or he's out on the street...it's after that I went to the festival and noticed the clowns balloon pop sound wasn't happening and when I went to the options menu and noticed the sound effects had been disabled even though I know I had them on high previously....it could have occurred during the cut-scene where Eva signs the work order form, but since that cut-scene results in Manny going straight to the poisoning (which then leads to Bruno cut-scene) I wasn't sure if it was that one or the Bruno one.

I can say for sure it most recently happened after the cut-scene where Manny and Glottis first drive into Rubicava after crossing the Beaver damn, since that is my most recent save which I loaded and it occurred.

Can you post your residual.ini?

Grimfan33 commented 12 years ago

to giucam: The residual.ini is the config file, correct?...if so, here it is: http://www.smallfiles.org/download/95/residual.ini.html The only thing I changed in it during the entire time is that fullscreen is enabled at start by setting it to fullscreen=true.
