Wondering what the status of this issue might be at this point. The original issue started in 2009 and doesn't seem to have progressed much from there.

add examples on main site, with android also =)

There is an ongoing effort to add a Netty connector which has some WebSocket capabilities that will make it easier to map to the Restlet API
