retrohead / satiator-rings

Satiator menu replacement with image support written using jo-engine. Currently loads .iso and .cue / .bin format (.wav should work but not tested). Some games may not work due to vdp1 not being cleared. Region free is different to the official menu as it is done by actually patching the files on your SD card. Therefore there is a confirmation screen before launching which can be turned off in options.

'Load Satiator Menu' not working on FW159 #16

Satiator info

Firmware: v159 and satiatormshvsf-0 Menu: v67 Rings: v5.5

What is the behaviour you observe?

  1. Select 'Load Satiator Menu'.
  2. The message 'Booting Menu' is displayed for approximately ten seconds, then it fades to a black screen and crashes. On a single occasion the Satiator menu booted up but, when I attempted to load a disc image, the menu gave the following error message: "Unknown error - Boot failed!".

What is the behaviour you expect?

In Satiator Rings v5.5 paired with FW158:

  1. Select 'Load Satiator Menu'.
  2. The message 'Booting Menu' is displayed for approximately two seconds, then it fades to a black screen and boots the Satiator menu. From there, disc images can be loaded without any problems.

Can confirm also having the same issue and I'm also unable to boot games, I have reverted back to standard menu in the meantime.

Satiator Rings v5.5 loads games fine on the latest firmware (v160) when Auto Region Patch is set to On (not Off or Emu). This setting is accessible by pressing Start in the games menu and then selecting Options.

Issue appears after upgrading to firmware 158+. Due to this being affected by firmware, trying to fix this in Rings could be a waste of time so I will not be investigating this any time soon.

The "emu" option loads a modified version of the original menu, this is why that does not work either.

FW158 beta had really slow SD access in Rings which was improved before release but we are now stuck with no way to launch the official menu anymore.

Note: SaveGameCopier has the same issue but uses different code that didn't work on FW157 either.
