PC support? #1

This isn't really an issue but more of a question (though maybe this could be a feature request).

Would this work on a PC through a 9 to 25 pin adapter with something like softmpu? I'm trying to get MIDI on a DOS PC laptop which has no MIDI capability, and this seems like the most reasonable option available for this, assuming it'd be compatible. I've found a couple other options which I haven't been able to find designs available for and which are also out of stock that are more directly intended for DOS PCs/softmpu. This one having an open design that can be built seems to be the only option available at this point that is close to what I'd like.

Hello,

It could work but I would suggest midi option via a joystick port, which was the most common at this period.

This board would work on a 9pin serial as it only uses pins tx, rx and gnd.

Please note that Amiga has 5v and 12v out on the serial port so you would need an external source to power it as IBM pc don’t supply voltage on the serial port.

Thanks!

I was considering serial to MIDI adapters since the laptop i'm trying to use (a pocket386) doesn't have any sort of MIDI or a gameport or anything like that at all, but does have serial. I was imagining though yeah that power would be an issue. I didn't know if the power was just an Amiga thing.

Midi is 31250 bauds. Check if it can get up to that speed.

Power is not on a DB9 for sure.
