What I've done:

  1. Learning about DFT. But not finished yet. I joined online course about DFT by Ecole Polytechnique. This course was planned for 3 weeks, and I've joined this course for 1 weeks. So, maybe I will finish this course next week.
  2. Learning about Plasmonic and Optical Properties of Gold Nanoparticles. What I've understand about plasmonic is: Plasmonic is about trying to engine the signals at optical frequencies along metal-dielectric interfaces in the nanometer scale. I also learn about gold nanoparticle, especially the optical properties. Metal nanoparticles have special optical properties. It so sensitive so can be a good candidate as sensor. If we can combine this nanoparticle with some biomaterials, we can make biosensor that will be safe and eco-friendly for our bodies. The optical properties that have many profits for our aim is surface plasmon resonance (SPR). What is SPR : The surface plasmon resonance, a unique phenomenon to plasmonic (noble metal) nanoparticles leads to strong electromagnetic fields on the particle surface and consequently enhances all the radiative properties such as absorption and scattering. Additionally, the strongly absorbed light is converted to heat quickly via a series of nonradiative processes (Huang & El-Sayed, 2010. https://doi.org/10.1016/j.jare.2010.02.002)
  3. I also try to download the Orca program. But I can't download it yet (I don't know why). I think I should discuss with other friends from Bu Wulan lab member.
