How to create a bookdown project #61

From Crystal:

I think what has become most overwhelming is:

  1. Getting the most minimal bookdown repo that you actually need together (everyone's book repo has different files and even the minimal one from Yihui seems to have more than you actual need at the bare minimum)
  2. Then assigning a custom domain (or subdomain?) for the book
  3. Then updating css to make it more visually appealing (like yours is really cool) - and I don't know anything about css :/
  4. Creating a book cover
  5. Creating a website (with a custom domain) associated with the book (to share updates, to add supplemental materials, etc.)
  6. How to publish your book in multiple formats (like I think I might upload my book to LeanPub eventually and that needs an Epub, and I might print with Amazon and that requires a PDF)

I think I saw your book and I was like, holy cow it looks so good I don't even know where to start!

Plus then, I was reviewing Data Science in Education Using R, and they published with CRC. But then I saw CRC had all these other requirements: https://ivelasq.rbind.io/blog/bookdown-manuscript/

  1. Print the book in Word
  2. Figures all have to be certain size and dimension and labelled
  3. Bibliography needed
  4. Figures all need to be separately from the manuscript
