Batocera v39 Beta Clock and NTP Sync Issue #206

Hello. I've also posted this on the discussion but here is the issue regarding the time/date. For one, time and date is not displayed in the main menu/home despite selecting the USER INTERFACE SETTINGS>SHOW CLOCK is checked. I've managed to see the clock once in the home menu but after shutdown, it disappered again.

Next, in the case when the NTP sync fails upon boot or I think when connecting on the Wi-Fi, the date resets to 2076/01/01 00:00H. I've encountered the issue since when the NTP queries the pool.ntp.org a REQUEST TIME OUT or NO DATA is returned (based on my local DNS and trying to tracert. I know the date becomes 2076/01/01 00:00H because of a game I playing that has an RTC, and when saving, it shows the date of the system. I'm not sure if the ISP is blocking the NTP query since the NTP becomes successful in mobile data.

Then lastly, I think the clock also resets to 2076/01/01 00:00H upon hard boot and then syncs the time using NTP. I've encountered this issue since I've had a successful NTP using mobile data hotspot and then turned off my Wi-fi and turned off the RG35XX-Plus. Upon reboot, the clock becomes 2076/01/01 00:00H again.

Isn't the clock normal behavior supposedly that if it syncs, it saves that time and then when an NTP query fails the next time, it still use the previously set time and not reset to some date (which is in this case, 2076/01/01 00:00H )? Can I also edit the ntp servers so I can specify the region/country?

@HeirKingsley thanks for opening the ticket. I'll have a look after the next release is out. In the meantime you may want to try the latest beta to see if that changes, since it includes several upstream changes from batocera.
