11 years ago I actually have this ability through an admin console, but you're right, this should really be possible for moderators through the web page itself. With that said, I would like to leave it up to the runners themselves to fix or merge appropriate game titles or categories, and this is currently possible through each runner's list / edit runs page. One thing I'm striving for is to give the runner as much control as possible over their runner page containing their table of PBs. So, if they want to use a non-standard name for a game or category, that's actually fine by me. However, I'm guessing most of the current mess is just accidental and the runners didn't intend to use non-standard labels. A friendly poke to those runners is probably in order, with a mod fix afterwards if they don't reply.
Some kind of way to merge game titles that are obviously the same game, i.e. 'Final Fantasy V', 'final fantasy 5', maybe for some users only marked as moderator/whatever. Not sure if this is practical for run categories, but those are currently a bit of a mess too.
