OK I've now installed the updated 5.8.4-0 version, had to reinstall a lot of Plugins but it's all done no drama. Unfortunately it's made no difference to the Watchdog feature... It works flawlessly so long as I set the "Off Course by" parameter to minimum 65°... but any reduction in that figure results in the alarm being triggered within a few minutes and will keep triggering every rew minutes. The little on screen dialogue box steadily shows course 2-3 degrees within my steered track...then suddenly shows a value of say 38° and of course the Alarm sounds... Strange hey?

I am going to ask him to use VDR_pi and record this happening, so we can play it and inspect the incoming data.

PS Facebook makes it difficult to link to separate posts. So I am also going to ask him to get a Cruiser's Forum account and use the Opencpn forum there. Record a VDR file and attach it so we can see if there are anomalies in the data stream.

I've left a note on FB asking for a VDR of the nmea data which he never sent. I believe this is an anomaly in the data. So I am closing this.
