This PR:

cherry-picks @c-cube's commits as of May 2018
makes it compile and run tests successfully with my opam
adds travis CI checking for Linux and OSX using the travis-opam tooling (see https://travis-ci.org/rgrinberg/bencode/builds/380837665 ) - maybe you want to add weekly/monthly rebuilding to your Travis instance for the project?
changed an instance of Printf.printf ... ; failwith "" to failwith (Printf.sprintf ...)
makes opam lint happy
removes some trailing whitespace

resolves #5 edit: ping @rgrinberg edit 2: update link to travis to point to the build for this PR

Thanks, looks good. I'd recommend updating the build system to dune. What we have here is kind of archaic.
