The current software is just a Prof of concept (POC) to get development going. Now that we know a lot more we would like to design the software so that we can facilitate integration with other project.

For example:

• Home assistant, nice to be able to get all the data into it and control everything from a computer or smart phone.
• Grafana for graphing and data analysis.
• Local food nodes for buying and selling local produce.

Writing the new software could also make it easier for people to add their own sensors, automation rules etc.

I just got bit by the home automation bug and am also starting to research hydro/aeroponics. I'm planning on following your build guide soon and think it would be amazing to package this up into a HA component
