perl ~= 5.001 #6

Some of the autotools suite seems to expect Perl to exist. We want 5.001 since OPENSTEP already has that one. But the oldest I can find is 5.003_04 . So there.

The 5.6.2 we have fails when used with autoreconf.

Not that we really want it yet.

Side note: a 5.001 build in Framework form is floating around, geared toward embedding the language into an app. But IIRC it targets OS4.2 only.
