Why not turn this project into a home assistant integration??? #2

Hi Ruben, I guess you are Dutch, but I'll continue in English of course...

Your project is very interesting. But it is a pity that it is 'stand alone'.

I am using home assistant for home automation and it uses python as a basis for all possible platforms and integrations. If you would be able to turn your firepi project into a home assistant integration that would mean the world to me! It would open endless possibilities for automating my home if a call comes for my local fire station and I could also build automations in our fire station itself.

I could help you with the project (I have a very basic understanding of Python and Java) and lots of experience with home assistant and configuring a wide variety of home automation platforms.

For more info on home assistant development check: https://developers.home-assistant.io

And specific concerning building integrations: https://developers.home-assistant.io/docs/development_index/

I hope you are interested... Love to hear from you!

Hi Rob !

I am indeed Dutch, but let's continue in English anyway for the benefit of any future non-Dutch speakers ;).

We created this project a while ago with the intention to elicit interest from the community, and give hobbyists a foundation to build upon. This project was only an example, and since then we have developed a completely new API with more possibilities: https://www.brandweerrooster.nl/apidocs/

We are getting some interest now and then for integration with Philips Hue, IFTTT and home assistant. Right now, we have limited capacity to build this ourselves, given the large amount of new projects and customers we're getting (not complaining of course  ). However, if you or someone you know is interested in building integrations, we're happy to advise!

Cheers, Ruben

Hi Ruben, I didn't realise that you are part of the FireServiceRota team :-)

I can imagine that you do not have enough time to develop all these integrations...

I hope someone will read this and get in touch with me. I am sure it is not a task that I will be able to accomplish alone...

Thanks for your response, Rob
