What does “Always Update Location” in “Better Location” do? #1220

Description

After spoofing my location, I still had to enable location permission for Snapchat for it to actually show, but after seeing the “always update location” feature I thought that if I enabled it it would no longer require me to have my location permission on in order to have my location spoofed, as the description stated it would force Snapchat to update my location even if no GPS data was received, but after enabling it and disabling Snap location access, my location could no longer be spoofed, which confused me. So could somebody please tell me what that feature exactly does? Also, do I need to have the “Remove mock location flag” feature enabled so that Snapchat doesn’t detect it’s a spoofed location?

Reproduction steps

  1. Enable spoof location
  2. Enable Snapchat location access
  3. Enable Always Update Location
  4. Disable Snapchat Location Access
  5. Try to spoof location to another coordinate, and see that it doesn’t work anymore.

This feature shows on the map that you are permanently active (it displays "Now" to others), even if the location services don't update your position on the map. However, for this feature to work, the location must be enabled
