Thank you for your contribution. I'll take a closer look tomorrow.
I'm really sorry for the late reply, but I wanted to test it out and discuss it with colleagues (and we're quite busy with other projects...).
I can see the value of such a feature for some purposes. However, we're not going to accept this contribution because we want to keep only "cartographic" elements on the map (i.e. elements that should appear on the final map - even though I've seen that the slider is absent from the exported map), and we don't think this element belongs on the map (we think it's more of an element that should appear in one of the various interface menus).
Just to know what to improve next time, do you think the current elements for changing the size of proportional symbols are too buried in the menus? Or perhaps you think Magrit lacks an option for simultaneously rescaling all layers of proportional symbols and pictograms? (which I admit is handy)
Hello, no worries for the delay, we thought indeed that the options were a little buried in submenus hence why we made this slider, the more layer you have the harder it is to change options (and also the menus can get busy with the amount of settable paramaters)
But we made this feature mostly to allow to rescale the symbols and pictograms after zooming / dezooming on the map. If you zoom on a specific zone the elements aren't going to rescale and makes the map less readable, having a slider allows for a fine tune on the display (to fit the elements exactly the way the user wants), without having to go through each layer each time he zooms/dezooms.
Hello,
Here is a new features made together with @robLittiere and @DevGuez which implements a slider allowing to rescale proportionnal symbols and images sizes from the map canvas.
We set the slider and buttons to be visible when the lock is unlocked, with the scale value being displayed in the center, ranging from 0 to 2 with a 0.05 step. It also rescales the legend to match the symbols size.
However, when the page is refreshed, the slider goes back to it's default value (1) and so do the symbols and images, therefore not taking into account the scaling the user could have done as we're not sure how to implement this.
