There is no need to close the PR to update it, just push (or force-push if you've rebased) to your master branch and it will update the PR.

Took a different approach; decided I didn’t need to be creating a secondary local copy of my repository when it’s all on github anyway. Thus, no longer need to have that extra line in the .gitignore file.
