It appears that ADoc plugin adds extra wrapping elements <div class="paragraph"> to markup, which apparently breaks auto-generated excerpts.

We can attempt do more template processing on excerpts in blog post card markup, removing those divs.
We can require hand-crafted excerpts in theme instructions.
