How about…

If you win a game in 1 guess, you get 5 stars
If you win a game in 2 guesses, you get 3 stars
If you win a game in 3 guesses, you get 2 stars
If you win a game in 4 or more guesses, you get 1 star
If you don't win, no stars for you.

I like the idea. Maybe we want to tweak the actual guesses needed for a certain amount of stars but it should be doable once we have persisted games and/or streaks (which might increase the amount of stars you get; for example first day, first guess gives 5 stars and second day, first guess gives 6 or so).
