char copy & paste doesn't seem to work (on MacOS) #55

Trying to copy a character over another copies garbage or nothing at all.
I tried both with keyboard shortcuts and menu commands.
In the screenshot you can see the result of copying the @ sign over the space.

Vchar64 version 0.2.2 on MacOS 10.12.6

works for me. please add more context, like exact steps to reproduce it. also try latest version: 0.2.4... or even better, try latest version from git repo.
