twitterbot #15

"When looking for ads, students noticed . . ." - the insertion of students seemed too sudden and jarring, despite the fact that I understand the nature of the project. This sentence also seems to belong more to the next paragraph

"some hashtags" - made me wonder how these hashtags were selected, what kind of hashtag they would be like, etc. Are they primarily location hashtags? because that specification would make it clearer (if that is, in fact, true)

conclusion - there is no conclusion with results, questions, or limitations

wcaleb commented 10 years ago

One thing we could put on the "conclusion" section is to talk about some of the recent discussions surrounding "historic photo" accounts on Twitter, and how our project compares favorably to those.

wcaleb commented 10 years ago

I think Kaitlyn's commit actually closed a different issue.

KaitlynSisk commented 10 years ago

Yes, I had the wrong number -- sorry!

ClareCat21 commented 10 years ago

I think the comparison could be beneficial in the conclusion. Also, this might not work as a next step/might be too small to include, but could we potentially expand our source size so we will be able to tweet unique ads for longer? And the ever-present issue of how to increase exposure, of course, although that was mentioned in another section I think.

ClareCat21 commented 10 years ago

Is anyone assigned to the conclusion of the twitter bot? If not, I can write something up (and @KaitlynSisk said she would help too). I don't think it will be as long as the other conclusions because there isn't as much to say (most of the material seems to be covered earlier in the page).

wcaleb commented 10 years ago

@ClareCat21 if you want to draft something that we can look at, that would be great. In light of #27, @KaitlynSisk and @br0nstein may have some additional work to do on the NER page.

ClareCat21 commented 10 years ago

Ok! Will do. I'm busy until 8 or 9, but I will definitely work on it as soon as I get home.

ara4 commented 10 years ago

@ClareCat21 @wcaleb I am happy to help with the Twitter conclusion as well!

wcaleb commented 10 years ago

Whoever gets to it first can write up a draft, and the other can proofread, suggest changes.

ara4 commented 10 years ago

@wcaleb @ClareCat21 I'm working on part of the conclusion. Feel free to edit as necessary. I wrote it quickly so I'm sure it needs revision!

ClareCat21 commented 10 years ago

@ara4 looks good - i really like it! i'll continue brainstorming ideas - it would nice to be able to expand the conclusions section a little more along the lines of "what next" but i don't know if we'll be able to think of anything else. I especially like the juxtaposition of digital project versus promotion - good closing

ClareCat21 commented 10 years ago

@ara4 @wcaleb Is expanding to other social media sites a possible next step? Don't want to add it if it isn't. I think the publicizing would be a bigger issue on Facebook, but Instagram might work potentially?

wcaleb commented 10 years ago

Maybe, though I think your point about expanding the number of ads we are tweeting is a more likely next step. We have some ads transcribed from the Clarksville Northern Standard that we can add to the pool soon.

ClareCat21 commented 10 years ago

I added two lines - one about expanding sources and another about exploring the possibility of other hashtags to increase viewership. Does it still flow ok @ara4?

ara4 commented 10 years ago

@ClareCat21 This looks good! I like your point about expanding source size.
