I'l be happy to add support for the 311 and the ION.
Once dell releases an ion netbook, I'll be working on it for that (or if they
don't, I might get a 311).
If you'r available, I can work with you to add support for the 311, just send
me an email. (myusername @
gmail.com).

Thanks for the quick response. I actually have an Acer Aspire R1600, which is
a nettop. I listed the mini 311,
because it's the same hardware but different form factor. I'd definitely be
interested in helping to get it to work.
Can you suggest so steps to take to get started?
BTW, I also have a 10v that I installed snow leopard on using your tool set.
Works great.

Maybe we could make this an article on the Wiki page for steps to add support
for new systems.

So i started testing an install on the Acer Aspire R1600.
I boot the USB stick (the same one I used on my mini 10v) and I get a kernel
panic stating:
Unsupported CPU: family = 0x6, model = 0x1c, stepping = 0x2
This nettop has an Intel Atom 230 in it.

well i feel kinda stupid, the aspire r1600 has a Atom 230. Whereas the HP mini
311 has a Atom 280. Guess
they aren't the same hardware. But they are close.

Further research shows that the 230 is the nettop version of the Diamondville
class, and the 270/280 are the
netbook versions of the Diamondville class. According to Wikipedia, the only
difference is the TDP value.

I'll try to make a wiki post some time, not sure when though.
What os are you trying to install (10.5, 10.5.6, 10.6, etc)?

10.6
I found a suggestion that said to delete the power management CPU kext. After
doing that, I get farther in the
boot sequence, but it hangs before I see the Snow Leopard installer.

I was able to install, and run 10.6.2 on my ATOM 230 ( Intel D945GCLF ).
After you boot up, but before installing OSX, type in "arch=i386" - this boots
you
into 32 bit mode ( thank you Meklort! ).
After the first reboot, again type in arch=i386, but add -x ( you need the
space )
"arch=i386 -x" - this boots you in safe mode, and 32 bit mode.
Complete the installation process.
Every time you boot up, you must type in arch=i386
I am running perfectly this way :)

Since nearly everything on the 311 works OOB (except for the WiFi and audio,
both of
which have fixes in the form on NvidiaHDA kext and getting a new card), the 311
seems
like the perfect computer to add support for in NBI/NBBM :D
