Extensions to trait.plot() #4

Hi Rich,

I added a bit to trait.plot() to handle traits with more than two states and make rectangular/phylogram plots. Seems to be working (examples included), so perhaps you'd like it.

(You probably don't want my .gitignore, but I don't see how to exclude it from this pull request.)

Thanks Emma, this looks great. Some time I really should go through and replace the series of plotting hacks with some actual decent plotting code (been driving me nuts for years now). But no papers in that, so we suffer along.

The changes in .gitignore are no big deal; I think to remove them you've got to do some branch wizardry. I have a global .gitignore that hits most of those patterns, so it's not going to affect me.
