Remote shutter release wired/ wireless #2

Hey, I'd need a way to release multiple DxoOnes remotely, either via cable or wireless, but without the need of multiple controlling devices (phones). I'm asking in case you think of something in your explorations :)

For the moment I have tested rewiring the actual camera button, there is a ribbon cable which can be repurposed for that, but it is a flimsy solution and I'm sure there is a more elegant one. Preferably - wireless/ software only :)

Hey!

This might be possible via Wi-Fi, yes. There's a method to have the camera connect to a Wi-Fi network, which could be scripted to happen at power-on. In theory, an application on the same network could connect to the IP-address of the camera then, perform a handshake and take control over it.

But I'm still quite far away from that, I didn't investigate yet how to take control over the camera (via Wire/Wi-Fi).

(First order of business is to figure out how to upgrade the firmware in order to recover the device in case someone/me is breaking the firmware)

Good input either way, thank you.

If you'd like to dig into connecting to the camera over Wi-Fi, let me know. For now I can only make it connect to a configured Wi-Fi AP. Everything from there is untapped territory...

Yeah, that sounds about right :)

Is there anything that would help you move further along?

Time, skill, and maybe an old iPhone/iPod touch Gen7 to dig a bit into how they communicate with the camera. But mostly time for now...

How would your multi-cam setup work, would all cams be in the same room?

Re: the setup - yeah, I can probably keep them within a few meters. I have a few use cases in mind, but mostly close-by.

I could probably contribute a functional iPhone 6s if that helps, bonus points if you're in EU - less paperwork when sending :)
