Applying the subsitution list periodically unexpectedly changes the cursor position in some textboxes

What steps will reproduce the problem?

1. Define any random substitution that doesn't match anything, for any url.
2. Enable auto-replace every second.
3. Write in the Twitter publish textbox.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

Every time the substitution is applied the cursor returns to some previous 
position, usually the beginning. Happens in the Twitter publish textbox and in 
Hotmail, but not in the Twitter search box or the Google search box.
