how can we track on the guides updates? is there anyway to sync the guide?
not just get the version if it's up to date or not?

You can use SVN client such as SmartSVN to get diff of your source version with 
latest 
source version.

When translating you should copy version string from checked out source 
document and 
then update it accordingly.
