How do I make Comic Rack and FMD play along? #1106

FMD likes to separate all chapters into separate cbz's, zip's, pdf's or folders.

Comic Rack doesn't import folders with a bunch of files. It would import CBZ and the other formats though.

The problem I'm facing is that if I download a manga with say 180 chapters Comic Rack will show me 180 "manga" entries instead of one with many chapters no matter if I group a particular series into one folder or not.

So the only thing that seems that this could solve it is FMD downloading all chapters into ONE BIG cbz for example so ComicRack could recognize the single cbz as the one series it is.

Is there any hope? These two programs are made for each other, unfortunately the developer of Comic Rack is on a sabbath year, so I hate to say this, but the ball seems in FMD's park and honestly whether it's for CR's sake or not, I'd really love to have just one file per series, makes things a lot more tidy.

From my point of view this is more a flow in the manga reader software. Sure it might be possible to pack a completed series into a single archive/folder, but ongoing series might become difficult to manage (e.g. adding new chapters to existing archives, page numbering, ...).

I recommend just to write a script that merges all archives/folders into a single archive/folder (i did this for my kobo ebook reader).

Do you mind sharing your script with me?

I doubt the script does what you want because it is not for FMD and not even for Windows Shell... kobo.tar.bz2

You can create that with a couple of Cut & Paste, and then zip them with an archive manager. Then change extension from zip to cbz.

I've created cbz profile for winrar and now I pack manga chapters one by one myself.

Since cbz must not have sub-directories (only image files are allowed) you need to rename each image file from each chapter to keep the correct order and prevent duplicate image names in the cbz.
