Sounds like you've not uploaded all files correctly. There's no error in the
installer (otherwise there would be a lot more issues posted about it or the
41,000+ downloads have all had it and not been reported ;-) )
Are you even on a linux install? If not, then there's no way you have 777 or
755 permissions and by the look of your error path it's a windows machine

and I forgot to mention I get a message UPGRADE COMPLETE instead of INSTALLED
SUCCESSFUL for the first time.

What web server are you running? I can't seem to replicate this issue on
windows. The "Upgrade Complete" message is correct if you had a previous
install of vQmod

I got the same error as "syntax error, unexpected '/' in
...\vqmod\install\index.php on line 93."
My site is hosted on ARVIXE,and the server is Microsoft Windows Server 2012 R2
Standard.
