Background: an Incorrect Worked Examples mode would be:
Well aligned with RightOn's goal to foster a positive classroom culture of error (one where mistakes are seen as learning opportunities and specific methods are provided to do so)
More novel and leading-edge from a learning engineering / education research perspective vs. Correct Worked Examples
An opportunity to achieve potentially greater proficiency gains compared to Correct Worked Examples
Building upon emerging research into Incorrect Worked Examples, 2023 grant proposals, and how R&D related to Incorrect Worked Examples is considered leading-edge (vs. that for Correct Worked Examples): to determine if and how an Incorrect Worked Examples mode might be implemented within the RightOn platform, our plan is to first create a quick prototype of one type of Incorrect Worked Examples: "Find/Explain Incorrect Step". [This is distinguished from another type of Incorrect Worked Example: "Comparing Correct vs Incorrect Worked Examples" (an example of which is "Charting the Error", implemented in New York's Uncommon Schools network).]
For examples of the above and further details, see the following screens in Figma, which depict 5 different types of Worked Examples: 3 types of Correct Worked Examples and the 2 types of Incorrect Worked Examples mentioned above.
