Blank, black screen after switching focus to other app and returning to SlimSocial #219

Expected Behavior

Should be able to navigate to another app and return to SlimSocial in the state it was left (with refresh or not, etc).

Current Behavior

Once you navigate to second app, upon returning to SlimSocial the screen is black except for blue header bar.

Must close app fully (swipe up to close, or force stop) and re-open SlimSocial again fresh.

This also makes logging in with a password manager or MFA enabled very tricky, if you get through the password prompt, once you navigate away to obtain the OTP, you return to a black screen.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Open app.
  2. Navigate to any other app (Follow link, answer phone, send text, etc).
  3. Return to SlimSocial app.

Environment

Occurs with default install, 10.0.11.

Tested with my always on VPN, and with it turned on. Tested on Wi-Fi, and mobile connection.

Pixel 6 Android 14, current April 2024 FW.

PXL_20240512_103520451 Attempts to force redraw fail. Here we use split-screen with another app, while a posting is attempted on SlimSocial. Bug on left is for Android "Voice access", currently off.

Two method to kick client back into life.

  1. Force stop app. Swipe (or old style tap bottom right box icon) to enter Android app switcher. Select SlimSocial for Facebook icon above app. Select App info. Tap Force stop. Click OK. IT'S DEAD JIM! Select Open.
  2. Switch view mode back to "basic version". Select "three dots menu", ⋮ , Select ⚙ Settings. Toggle slider on Use basic version of Facebook"it works better on older devices or slower connections upon leaving Settings menu, content will appear.

Neither method preserves state, so any "in progress" posting will be lost.

I have the same issue. It is very frustrating, so I would also like to request this be addressed.

same issue. i cant even log in.

everytime I try using this app throughout the years, I almost always run into a bug that breaks its entire functionality or makes it extremely tedious to use. super disappointing
