Chess Pieces are invisible #499

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Starting a game
2. Starting a puzzle

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
When I start a game normally you see the chess board and pieces all set up; 
however, I see no 
pieces and the numbers and letters are seen on the bottom row and leftmost 
column.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system and
what environment?
I am using .97a on a Mac OS X 10.4.11.  I play for fun at home.

Try version .98 RC2. A lot of board-dealing code has been changed in this 
version, so
maybe this is already fixed.

.98 RC2 does not open, so I instead downloaded .98 RC1 and everything seems to 
be working fine.  Thanks.
