Audio issues on iPad Pro 10.5 inch #188

Open Slipd4sh opened 2 years ago

Slipd4sh commented 2 years ago

Hi. I’ve discovered an issue where the audio in all the games I’ve tried emulators will start making a buzzing noise or not play anything at all. Every emulator and game I have tried so far have the same reoccurring issue. Some games I tried include

solotarobo Kirby nightmare in dreamland mischief makers Kirby superstars ultra Metroid zero mission Nds bios

emulators I tried were.. Ds N64 and gba

I hadn’t had this issue until yesterday I have not updated my iPad past 15.2. Maybe it’s a problem with sync??? Mischief makers tends to buzz later than Kirby superstars and Metroid does, those seem to be almost immediate.

Using Delta 1.3.1

Have they found a fix???

lonkelle commented 1 year ago

Just added this to my TODO list. Make sure you list the device you're using since this bug appears to be device specific.

Jonathon-R-C commented 1 year ago

Also having this exact issue on an ipad air 2 running iOS 15.6.

I found a workaround for this issue (at least for GBA) by sideloading Delta v1.2 instead of the latest 1.3 versions as the issue doesn't seem to occur on v1.2. With that said you lose official DS support so im not sure what you can do there

EDIT: Also will add im using the 3.5mm headphone jack and not a bluetooth device. Also tried using a more later version using the Deltroid fork but the issue remains

Happens every time, sooner or later, on GBA and DS (melonDS), but only with Bluetooth sound — no issues through device audio. Sound may garble like in ReadyBear's vid or not play at all. Re-loading the save fixes temporarily. Delta 1.3.2 on iPhone 7+ iOS 15.7.2.

Same issue on the Iphone SE Gen 1 (altstore) Delta 1.4.1, iOS 15.7.8 Tested on GBA and NDS; I can only play a few minutes before buzzing occurs (temporary fix is going to main menu hten resume

ConcurrentCrab commented 9 months ago

Sad to report, still facing this with the latest 1.5 pre-release build on an SE gen1 (installed ipa with trollstore). Is there any other information like debug logs we can provide to help? Thanks!

p.s. my solution to this is just pausing and saving the game in a "throwaway" slot. That seems to fix whatever state corruption happens to cause this. Might also be a hint for debugging.

IPad Pro (10.5 inch, 2nd Gen), IOS 15.3.1, Delta. 1.5.1 AppStore Launch Version. Tested on GBA, NDS (melonDS), N64.

Same issue is still continuing here. The audio will play fine briefly, until a few minutes pass by and then it glitches regardless of whether it's device, Bluetooth, or wired sound.

Same with wooderdoe, loading a save state seems to reset this in a way, but every time I've repeatedly done so, the time between how long it takes to start buzzing again gets shorter and shorter. This doesn't reset until the app has been completely closed.

Also, turning on Background App Refresh extends the time it takes for the audio to bug, and pausing the game and going to the iPad Home Screen then to a different app and back fixes it in the same way as a save state temporarily.

*Edit: I have Sound Recognition turned off and no other apps open that could be interrupting the audio.

Just opened a ticket before seeing this but iPad Air 2 also does the same thing

IPad Pro (10.5 inch, 2nd Gen), IOS 15.3.1, Delta. 1.5.3s (AppStore Version). Tested again on GBA, NDS (melonDS), N64.

Same method and attempts to fix it were tested, same result except the sound is for whatever reason now noticeably a lot less sharper (i.e has a softer & weaker tone to it) on every game I tested through device or bluetooth audio. Still happens nonetheless.

DouglasMartinEX commented 6 months ago

No way to resolve it yet? I have to click on the main menu and then Resume every 1 minute to sound the game correctly :((

danchir commented 6 months ago

iPad Air 2 running 15.8.2, having the exact same buzzing audio issue as the above commenters. As previously mentioned, loading a different save state or returning to the main menu and resuming seems to temporarily fix it but it comes back after just a couple of minutes making games virtually unplayable. I see this issue has been going on since 2022, please resolve soon.

Original iPad Air, happens as well. Sad this issue hasn't been fixed for years.

IPad Pro (10.5 inch, 2nd Gen), IOS 15.3.1, Delta. 1.6.0 IPad Support, AppStore Version. Tested on GBA, NDS (melonDS, with different firmwares and default), N64.

Having reinstalled the app and ROMs several times, along with the same methods being used before to test, the audio does the same thing after a few minutes regardless. DS audio doesn't work nearly at all now (trying 8 differently uploaded firmwares of melonDS, only 1 had functional audio, which would eventually still break and continue buzzing).

N64 audio worked perfectly (regardless of the firmware) until a few minutes later, which it would then start buzzing. The same occurs for GBA. Weirdly, some of the app's internal settings are not working either (i.e, can't view the App Icons display once clicked (it appears as blank), exporting an Error Log whenever a crash or a bug or similar thing occurs when playing or trying to pressure test it produces a blank text file, assuming it is meant for that process).

Same exact issue on iPad 5th gen (running ipadOS 15.6.1). Have been having the issue for a while since AltStore version and now up until Appstore release 1.6.2s. And as others have commented this issue happens with other emulators as well.
