Since a few days attempts to build fprintd-vfs_proprietary end up with ld related error message:

That's a bug in fprintd, which propagated into a hard error in GCC 10 (see Debian's bug report). So just compile the code with GCC version < 10 and it should work, the other option is to add this patch into your build process.
