Do you have OSM Scout Server running? It may have something to do with the way the server is running on Ubuntu Touch.

Could you please check whether the server is running with systemctl --user status osmscout-server
? Which versions of Pure Maps and OSM Scout Server do you have installed? You can also try to systemctl --user restart osmscout-server
.
On my FP4 on devel channel I don't see this issue.
I just understood that to migrated from 16.04 to 20.04. In that case it is necessary to reinstall the focal version of the apps. In the system settings there is an option to reinstall focal versions for all installed apps. It might also be necessary to restart once more the service (or the system).
$ systemctl --user status osmscout-server
Unit osmscout-server.service could not be found.

I was pretty sure I did reinstall all of them.
I've went into OsmScout Server settings, and found that Automatic activation
checkbox was off.
After enabling automatic activation and restarting phone, now I see systemd service running, and no more errors.
I guess after upgrading to 20.04 one has to manually again enable automatic activation as upgrade procedure does not register systemd unit by itself?
Anyway, thanks!
Could be that a setting for disabled activation remains from the 16.04 version. A fresh install should activate it by default.

But PureMaps worked fine in 16.04 without doing anything manually, I just launched PureMaps and it showed offline map.
16.04 used upstart and the app itself wasn't aware of it. Instead, the click package shipped a launch script that would set up the service. In 20.04 we have systemd and the app manages the service itself.
I see this error after upgrading from 16.04 to Focal OTA-3:
This is journalctl output minus (spammy) "kernel:" lines:
("Ryšys atmestas" means standard "Connection refused" error code in Lithuanian).
Even I see "Failed to load sprite" etc in logs, closing that error window (clicking "<") returns to working user interface, where see the offline map without issues.
