Can not connect http://maps.google.com #214

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?

 1. start GMapCatcher
 2. uncheck Offline
 3. enter a location
 4. Click OK

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

I expect the map lead me to the location.

I saw Can not connect http://maps.google.com dialogbox. Obviously, I can
connect the site through any browser

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?

GMapCatcher 0.7.5.0.exe Windows XP SP3

Please provide any additional information below.

I just tested and is ok on my PC...
Any firewall that might prevent GMapCatcher from doing queries like:
http://maps.google.com/maps?q=Miami,FL
Do you use a proxy to connect?
Can you test from a different PC?

Hi Yafu,

It seems the Google Map URL parser can't works with ditu.google.com.
You can change the parser in googlemaps.py yourself, or you can contract with
me.

How do I change googlemaps.py? Why does it need to work with ditu.google.com?

I'm not sure about what HitWater is saying, GMapCatcher works perfectly fine
without ditu.google.com, did you try the link I posted a few days ago?

Thanks. When I run it from my home, it works great. When I start browser at my
company, it always ask for a password at beginning. GMapCatcher does not give
me the opportunity.

I would like to ask one more question, if you don't mind. Can gmapcatcher work
as google map API, such as put customized markers(my image), draw connections
between markers, display customized popup and respond to mouse over marker
event with JavaScript? Or if there is any doc about these. Thanks for your
help.
